SUSPENSION

1. Sitting / Swaying event for rock suspension (Tamura Gallery, Tokyo - 11 May, 1980)
Encircled by 18 granite rocks, which counterbalanced its weight, the body was suspended in a sitting position. Each rock weighed between 3.5 - 4.2 kgms, one rock for each insertion point. The rocks were first suspended from eye-bolts in the ceiling, then connected to the body sitting on the floor. The rocks were then lowered, lifting the body into space. During the suspension time of approximately 17 minutes, the body swayed, gently swinging all the rocks in different directions.

2. City Suspension (above the Royal Theatre, Copenhagen - 28th June, 1985)
Connected to steel cables, the body was hoisted to the midpoint of a crane arm, shuttled to the end, then rotated 4 times through 180¡ for a 24 minute suspension. The body was constantly vibrating from the wind, sometimes swinging and spinning on its axis. Maximum body height was 56 metres above street level.

3. Pull out / Pull up event for self-suspension (Tokiwa Gallery, Tokyo - 2 March, 1980)
The body, in a sitting position on the ground, was hooked up and connected to a steel frame. The body was then hoisted to a height of approximately 90 cm and finally to a height of approximately 1.4 metres. By means of a 4 :1 ratio pulley system the body is pulled out / pulled up. Touchdown occurred after approximately 20 minutes.

4. Event for lateral suspension ( Tamura Gallery, Tokyo - 12 March, 1978)
At the midpoint of the space from the side walls, the body was suspended vertically upright by the insertion of 18 hooks into the skin for a static suspension of 60 seconds.

5. Seaside suspension : Event for wind and waves ( Jogashima, Miura - 30th May, 1981)
The body, parallel to the horizon and looking out to sea, was suspended from a wooden structure on an outcrop of rocks near the shore as the tide was coming in. The weather was overcast with a blustery wind swaying the body and waves crashing against the rocks spraying and splashing it. The duration of the suspension was approximately 20 minutes.
